Georges French Bistro will open in College Hill on Nov. 2, owner George Youssef said.
Youssef is opening his new restaurant in the space at 4618 E. Central that Bella Luna Cafe vacated in July, and it is almost ready to go. He has the sign up outside, and inside, he is almost finished with a minor remodel that features new paint, half-circle booths and banquette seating. On Friday morning, Youssef had a table set with the dishes he has purchased for the restaurant, which include simple circular white plates and bowls and red glass bottles for water service.
He is also finished with the menu, which he says will be filled with “simple” French bistro-style dishes like escargot, mussels, calamari, steak frites and potato-crusted salmon. He will also have several desserts, including croissant bread pudding, creme brulee and chocolate mousse.
The restaurant will open each day at 11 a.m. It will close at either 9 or 10 p.m., and on weekends, it will stay open later, until either 10 or 11 p.m., Youssef said.
Youssef has been owner or part owner of several restaurants in Wichita over the years, including Nouvelle Cafe and Uptown Bistro. He has been working for many years as a caterer and as the chef at the Independent School.
