Former Grubb & Ellis commercial agent Adam Clements has found a home with Builders Inc.
Clements will work as a leasing agent for the property group that owns more than a million square feet of office, retail and industrial property in Wichita.
“They’re a huge portfolio,” says Clements.
He worked five years for Grubb & Ellis | Martens Commercial Group. Among the properties he listed was the 128,000-square-foot Market Centre building in downtown Wichita.
Clements says he was groomed by Steve Martens in the intricacies of being a commercial broker. But he eventually was lured away by Mike Garvey, president of Builders Inc.
“Mike and I hit it off from the beginning. It was already a great working relationship,” Clements says.
His job will be to market the company’s existing properties, with a special emphasis on retail and office space.
“We’re going through the inventory and just marketing. We’re not reinventing the wheel,” he says.
Clements will work under Builders Vice President Dennis Fitzroy.
Grubb & Ellis’ Patrick Ahern says Builders is likely to be pleased with its pick-up. Ahern worked with Clements at Market Centre and says he’s a high-energy broker.
“He signed 16 leases in as many months,” Ahern says of the building that was virtually vacant before that time. “He’s the young future of Wichita commercial real estate.”
